ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran women's tennis team Thursday night took on Northwestern and fell to the Eagles by a score of 9-0. The Eagles, last season's UMAC Champions, move to 14-9 overall and 2-1 in conference on the year while the Vikings fall to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the UMAC.
It was a steep hill to climb for the Vikings, as they fell down 3-0 after doubles play. Sailor Mohlenbrock and Emily Yehle played the closest match at No. 1, losing by a margin of 8-3. In singles, Mohlenbrock nearly took home a victory at No. 1, winning the first set 6-3 before falling in the second 6-4. In the tiebreak set, Mohlenbrock and Annie Orvis played back-and-forth with Orvis eventually claiming an 11-9 tiebreak win. Yehle also played a tightly contested match at No. 2 singles, falling 7-6, 6-2.Â
