MANKATO, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran men's basketball team Saturday played a great all-around game en route to a 91-66 win over Northland. With the win the Vikings improve to 5-10 overall and 2-2 in the UMAC while the LumberJacks fall to 0-15 overall and 0-4 in conference play.
After a 4-4 start to the game, the Vikings would score eight points over the next two minutes to lead 12-4. Both offenses stalled out for a few minutes before Bethany would once again get going and used a 12-0 run to lead 29-12 just over midway through the frame. Northland would hang with the Vikings the rest of the half though and cut into the lead, as they would outscore Bethany 22-18 over the final nine minutes to make the halftime score 47-34.
Northland would keep in it over the first five minutes of the second half, outscoring the Vikings 13-9 and would trail just 56-47 with 15 to play. Bethany would respond with three finishes inside though and would quickly push their lead back to 15 points at 64-49 with 13:20 to go. The LumberJacks would answer with a bucket, but five more from Bethany would make it an 18-point game. Bethany would push their lead to 27 at 80-53 with 6:47 to go in the contest and cruise to the finish line from there, taking it 91-66.
Drew Sagedahl led Bethany in the contest with 27 points on an efficient 10-of-11 shooting while also adding four assists.
Jax Madson added 15 for the Vikings with four assists as well while
DJ Akpati and
Julias Hendricks each scored eight.
Bethany will next be in action on Wednesday when they host Martin Luther for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
