Vikings Lose in Final Seconds to BVU

STORM LAKE, Iowa — The Bethany Lutheran Women's basketball team dropped a tough road contest Sunday afternoon, falling 61–60 after Buena Vista hit a game-winning three-pointer with 18 seconds left.

Buena Vista started quickly, building a 10-point lead in the first quarter, but the Vikings showed resilience early. Bethany Lutheran closed the period strong to cut the deficit to 16–13, then continued to battle back throughout the second quarter to stay within one possession. At the end of the second and third quarter, the score was tied.

The Vikings found their stride in the second half, using defensive stops and steady scoring to erase Buena Vista's early advantage. Bethany Lutheran surged ahead multiple times in the fourth quarter, setting up a tightly contested final minute.

Holding a slim lead in the closing moments, Bethany saw Buena Vista knock down a deep three to take a 61–60 advantage with 18 seconds remaining. The Vikings drew up a final play and had a chance to answer, but their last attempt wouldn't fall as time expired.

Arinn McGee paced Bethany Lutheran with 14 points and 9 rebounds, while Kenadi Arndt tallied 13 points and Morgan Hulke added 10, including key free throws during the Vikings' late run.

Bethany held a 33–25 edge on the glass and converted 20 Buena Vista turnovers into 17 points, underscoring the team's defensive intensity and ability to create opportunities.

The Vikings move to 2–6 overall and will look to bounce back next week as they return home for a game against UW- Stout on Wednesday.
