WAVERLY, Iowa - The Bethany men's basketball team snapped its five-game winning streak Wednesday with an 84-63 loss at Wartburg, dropping to 7-4 overall.Â
The beginning of the game was a close back-and-forth affair with five ties and a couple lead changes in the first nine minutes. Brady Ingersoll hit a jumper at the 11:19 mark to tie the game at 19-19, but the Knights responded with a 15-2 run and took a 45-32 lead into the break.Â
Elliot Whitney got the Vikings within seven points twice early in the second half, but the Knights again had an answer and continued to add to their lead throughout the rest of the game.Â
Bethany was limited to 34.3 percent shooting from the field and converted at 31.8 percent from long range. Wartburg was effective from close range, scoring 50 points in the paint and converted 17 Viking turnovers into 21 points.Â
Whitney and Amory Peterson led the Vikings with 15 points apiece. Jack Brockmann had a team-high six rebounds, including three blocks and a steal.Â
Bethany is off until Dec. 29-30 when it faces Loras and North Central (Ill.) at the Loras Holiday Classic.Â
