MANKATO, Minn. - Bethany men's basketball cruised to a decisive 89-57 non-conference victory over Oak Hills Christian College on Tuesday evening, improving to 5-3 overall with its third straight win.Â
Twelve different Vikings recorded points as 15 players saw time on the court. Elliot Whitney led the way with 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the floor, including six rebounds and five rebounds. Will Walter added 14 points off the bench and Max Briggs posted 11 points. Kaden Butler grabbed a team-high eight rebounds in just 11 minutes of action.Â
A layup by Rysley Borman on the third possession of the game gave the Vikings a lead they did not relinquish the rest of the way. Max Briggs made a free throw at the 10:43 mark to give the home team its first double-digit lead, which grew to as much as 21 points in the opening half. Bethany held a 43-29 advantage at the break.Â
The Vikings held a 15-to-22-point lead for most of the second half. A layup by Cole Johnson with 5:50 remaining in regulation sparked a 16-5 run to end the game with the largest lead of 32 points at the final buzzer.Â
Bethany shot 42.9 percent from the floor and made 10-of-36 from long range. The Vikings had a strong advantage on the glass, out-rebounding the Wolf Pack 52-32.Â
Bethany continues its home stand at 2 p.m. Saturday against UW-River Falls.Â
