DUBUQUE, Iowa - Bethany men's basketball suffered a 93-87 loss at Loras on Wednesday in its final non-conference game of the season, dropping to 7-6 overall.
After trading the lead 11 times in the first 10 minutes of the game, Bethany got on a hot streak with a 12-0 run, taking a 27-18 lead with 8:23 on the clock. The Duhawks answered with a 21-3 run over the next six minutes and carried a 44-39 advantage into the locker room at half.
Loras quickly jumped out to a double-digit lead in the second half and led by as much as 16 with 8:39 remaining. With under five minutes to go, Max Briggs made a layup which sparked a 10-2 run, cutting the Duhawks lead to 84-81 following a Cooper Mensink three at the 3:25 mark. That's the closest the Vikings got, though, in a six-point loss.
Bethany shot 50 percent from the floor, led by Briggs with 21 points. Jack Brockmann added 18 points, while Will Walter had 14 and Mensink 12.
Loras out-rebounded the Vikings 33-24 and shot 56.7 percent from the field.
Bethany begins UMAC play next Wednesday night at home against Northwestern-St. Paul.
