Siewert Named Sports Information Director at Bethany Lutheran College

MANKATO, Minn. - CJ Siewert has been named Sports Information Director at Bethany Lutheran College, Co-Athletic Directors Ryan Kragh and Pat Garvin announced Friday. Siewert will lead all aspects of communication and promotion for the Vikings' 15 varsity and two club sports teams.

"CJ stuck out during the hiring process due to his track record as a proven SID in the MIAC," Kragh said. "CJ is a tireless worker that will help put Bethany out in front of our fans and the community. We are super excited to have him at Bethany and welcome CJ to the family."

With over 14 years experience in college athletic communications, Siewert spent the past 10 years as the SID at Gustavus Adolphus College where he elevated the Gusties' brand by drastically improving their website, social media presence, and live streaming capabilities. Siewert emphasized promoting student-athletes through continuous media placement and nominations of academic and athletic awards, highlighted by 34 CSC Academic All-America selections. Siewert also brings a wealth of experience hosting conference, regional, and national tournaments, most recently serving as host for NCAA regional rounds in men's soccer and baseball, and the ITA National Team Indoor Championships during the 2024-25 academic year.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to promote athletics at Bethany Lutheran College," Siewert said. "I've been impressed with the improvements made at Bethany in recent years, especially with some of the facilities, and that is leading to more success on the field of play. After meeting with Pat, Ryan, and others during the hiring process, I'm excited to join the Bethany community and help the athletic department take the next steps forward."

After earning a bachelor's degree from Gustavus in 2011, Siewert was an assistant SID at his alma mater and then a graduate assistant SID at Concordia-St. Paul. During that time he served as the website coordinator for the Minnesota Baseball Association for four years. He also was an editor and reporter for various weekly newspapers in southern Minnesota, and a photographer at SPX Sports in Mankato. CJ lives in rural Kasota with his wife Kayla, their sons Theo and Max, and two labs.

Siewert begins his role Aug. 1 with the Vikings starting fall sports competition Aug. 29.
