MANKATO, Minn. - Bethany men's basketball got back in the win column Saturday afternoon with a decisive 86-69 win over North Central. The Vikings improve to 10-8 overall and 3-2 in the UMAC, snapping a two-game skid.Â
The Rams had the upper hand early, gaining a five-point lead on their first two possessions and then another five-point spread at 12-7 before the Vikings scored eight straight points for their first lead of the game. North Central got back in front 22-18 but the lead quickly evaporated as Bethany closed out the half on a 26-6 run for a 44-28 lead at halftime. Brady Ingersoll put an emphatic stamp on the first period with a long-range buzzer beater.Â
North Central closed the gap to eight (44-36) in the first minute of the second half, but the Vikings answered and maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the game.Â
Ingersoll scored a career-high 24 points, shooting 8-for-12 from the field and 4-for-5 from downtown. Max Briggs added 19 points, Will Walter posted 16, Jack Brockmann 12, and Hudsen Jenniges had 10 with a team-high eight rebounds. The Vikings won the battle on the glass 35-27.Â
