Men's Basketball Cruises by UM-Morris 108-91

MANKATO, Minn. - Will Walter and Max Briggs combined for 65 points as Bethany men's basketball cruised by UM-Morris 108-91 Thursday night, improving to 14-10 overall and 7-4 in the UMAC. The VIkings now control their own destiny for the UMAC championship and No. 1 seed with a win at North Central on Saturday. 

Bethany started the game on a 10-0 run thanks to scoring from Briggs and Walter and held the lead the entire game. A three-point and-one play by Hudsen Jenniges gave the Vikings a 20-point advantage with 7:21 remaining in the first half and they carried a 54-36 lead into the break. 

The Cougars cut the deficit to nine at the 16:13 mark of the second and continued to cut into the Vikings lead with a layup at 13:21, making the score 64-57. Briggs put a stop to the bleeding with a three on the other end and the Vikings continued to add to their lead the rest of the game. 

Walter led the offense with a career-high 35 points, making 8-of-12 three pointers. His 35 points are just four points shy of the single game program record. Briggs added 30 points on 9-of-12 shooting while going 8-for-8 from the line. The Vikings shot 55.4 percent from the floor. 

Bethany closes out the regular season Saturday afternoon at North Central.
