MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Bethany women's basketball closed out the regular season Saturday with a dominant 92-65 win at North Central. The Vikings completed the perfect conference schedule at 12-0 and improve to 15-10 overall heading into next week's UMAC playoffs where they will host North Central on Wednesday.Â
The lead changed side twice in the opening minute but from there it was all Bethany. A three by Juliana Ewald ended the first quarter with a 21-13 Viking lead. Another three by Megan Wegner with 6:31 left in the half gave the visitors their first double-digit advantage and the Vikings carried a 44-30 lead at the break.Â
Bethany outscored the Rams 24-22 in the third quarter and put the game away for good in the fourth. Thirteen different Vikings scored, led by Brea Mertz with 14 points. Wegner was next with 13, Arinn McGee posted 12 rebounds and a team-high seven boards, while Kenadi Arndt and Ewald tallied 11 points each.Â
The Vikings shot 50.8 percent and made 13-of-24 three-pointers. They also out-rebounded the Rams 42-25.
Wednesday's UMAC semifinal game time will be determined after today's men's games when all seeding is finalized.Â
