ST. MICHAEL, Minn. - The Bethany golf program started its 2026 fall season with a bang Tuesday as the men won the UNW Invite while the women set the school scoring record by 30 strokes. 

The Viking men shot a collective eight-over par 292, which was three strokes better than second place Northwestern-St. Paul. Anthony Nicolai tied for medalist honors with a two-under 69, carding four birdies in his round. Andrew King tied for seventh at 73 with three birdies, Daylan Duncalfe tied for 10th at 74, which included four birdies, August Waxin tied for 16th with a 76, also posting four birdies, and Tyson Wicklund tied for 43rd at 80. 

The women finished in fourth place, posting a 352, which is 30 strokes fewer than the previous 18-hole team record set in 2019. Lydia Schmid led the VIkings with an eighth place finish at 82. Eva Stuewe shot an 86 for 11th place, Kiara Murphy finished 16th at 90, and Flora Wegner took 18th at 94. 

"Great way to start the season," said Head Coach Mitch DeKruif. "Proud of both teams for coming together so quickly and committing to doing the work." 

Bethany is next in action Tuesday against Martin Luther for the annual Wittenberg and Saxony Cups.
