James Forina joined Bethany as the assistant women's basketball coach and assistant sports information director in August of 2025.
Prior to Bethany, Forina was a volunteer women's basketball coach at North Central University for the 2024-25 season. Forina graduated from Salem State University with a bachelor’s in sport management. Following his undergraduate studies, he graduated with a master’s in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University-St. Paul.
Forina served as a varsity assistant girls basketball coach at Providence Academy from 2018-22. During his time at Providence, his team achieved three state tournament appearances and won the state championship in 2021-2022. Forina was also the assistant athletic director at Providence Academy from 2022-23.
Forina was also a varsity assistant girls basketball coach at the Visitation School, a private college-preparatory school in St. Paul. In this role, Forina finished the season being the third seed in the section tournament. He works with the players, specializing in sport psychology. Additionally, he serves as a physical education teacher at the Nativity of Mary School in Bloomington. He works with students from kindergarten through eighth grade, developing a healthy culture of critical thinking, high effort, and Christ-centered play.
