St. Bonifacius, Minn. - The women's soccer team traveled to Crown for another conference match on Saturday. The Vikings came away with a 6-0 win, recording the team's seventh shut out of the season.
The Vikings outshot the Storm 23-5. Paige Taylor (Coon Rapids, Minn./DCTC) scored for the second game in a row just nine minutes in unassisted. Then at the 18:16 mark, Taylor booted one from the corner and Kinda Fairburn (Michael, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) headed it in for the second goal of the game. Before the half was over, Melanie Klimple (Mankato, Minn./Mankato East) and Joelle Pipal (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) found the back of the net. Klimple's goal unassisted and Pipal's from a penalty kick.
In the second half, the Vikings were able to tally on two more. Pipal scored both goals, one assisted by Taylor, the other by Maggie LaPlante (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake).
Jada Holden (Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn) was in net for the full 90 minutes saving four shots.
The Vikings, 7-2-2 overall and 3-1-2 in the UMAC, will play conference rival Martin Luther at home on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
