Mankato, Minn. – The Vikings fell to the Northwestern Eagles 3-2 in their second conference loss of the season.
The Vikings were outshot 18-7 and were down 2-0 at halftime. The squad rallied to come back to tie it in the second half with the fist goal coming off the foot of Joelle Pipal (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) from a penalty kick. The second goal for the Vikings was scored by Paige Taylor (Coon Rapids, Minn./DCTC) unassisted at the 75 minute mark.
With just two minutes left to play Northwestern got on past Vikings keeper Jada Holden (Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn) to avoid overtime. Holden recorded eight saves on the day.
The Vikings now 9-3-2 overall and 5-2-2 in the UMAC are tied for third place in the conference. Bethany Lutheran will travel to UW-River Falls for a non-conference match on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
