Ashland, Wis. – It was a critical game for the women’s soccer team as they traveled to Northland to take on the LumberJills. The Vikings needed a win in order feel more secure in the UMAC standings with the Jills biting at their heels.
The game was decided in the sixth minute from a goal by Joelle Pipal (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West). The game winner was assisted by Cory Hoshaw (Lino Lakes, Minn./Centennial).
The Vikings outshot Northland 8-1 and had an 8-2 corner kick advantage. The Vikings are sitting at third in the conference tied with Minnesota-Morris who Bethany Lutheran hosts in the last game of the regular season on October 30.
The next game for the squad (10-5-2 overall, 6-3-2 UMAC) is Tuesday in New Ulm when the Vikings take on Martin Luther.
