Women's soccer suffers first conference loss of season

St. Paul, Minn. - The women’s soccer team was defeated by the Northwestern Eagles 4-1 in an important conference match-up in St. Paul.

 

The Vikings played a solid first half getting on the board first when Paige Taylor (Coon Rapids, Minn./DCTC) scored in the 9th minute on an unassisted goal. Bethany Lutheran kept the lead until the 37:49 mark when the Eagles found the back of the net.

 

The second half proved to be a different game for the Vikings. In the first half Northwestern outshot the Vikings just 3-1 and took one more corner kick. In the second half, the Eagles were able to take 11 more shots on goal and five more corner kicks than Bethany Lutheran.

 

Alexa Mowery (Fairmont, Minn./Fairmont) was in goal recording seven saves for the Vikings.

 

This marks the first conference loss for the Vikings and just their second loss of the season. Bethany Lutheran now stands at 6-2-2 overall and 2-1-2 in the conference. The Vikes will travel to St. Bonifacius, Minnesota, to take on Crown today at noon.
