Women's Soccer downs North Central 3-1

Box Score

Mankato, Minn. - The Lady Vikings took on North Central Tuesday in a home non-conference game. The first half ended in a 0-0 deadlock, with Bethany outshooting North Central 16 to 4. The Vikings played aggressive staying on the offensive in the first half, but could not find the back of the net.

The second half started out early with a shot by Kristin Renner (Victoria, Minn./Mayer Lutheran), which was blocked by the Rams keeper. Maggie LaPlante (White Bear Lake, Minn./White Bear Lake) was ready for the rebound, but was stopped by the keeper again.

In the 63rd minute, freshman Kelli Kitzmann (Osseo, Minn./Osseo) finally found the net assisted by LaPlante.

After an offside call on Bethany and then a foul by North Central, LaPlante scored one of her own, making it 0-2. Senior Joelle Pipal (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) had the assist. In the 70th minute LePlante got her second goal of the game with a ball from Kitzmanm.

The Vikings continued to outshoot North Central, but in the 76th minute, the Rams took a free kick off of a Bethany foul. Goalie Alexa Mowery (Fairmont, Minn./Fairmont) caught the ball, but the impact caused her to step back. The referee called the ball across the line, and North Central prevented the shutout.
