Women's soccer defeats UW-Superior

Superior, Wis. - The women’s soccer team pulled off a dominate performance against UW-Superior in the second game of the season. The Vikings put forth a full team effort defeating the Yellowjackets 4-1 on the road with four different goal scorers, and four different players dishing out assists.

The first goal of the game came at the 14:40 mark when junior Kristin Renner (Victoria, Minn./Mayer Lutheran) assisted newcomer Paige Taylor (Fairmont, Minn./Fairmont) in her first goal as a Viking. Renner then scored one of her own at the start of the second half assisted by Cory Hoshaw (Lino Lake, Minn./Centennial). The goals kept coming for the Vikes when less than four minutes later senior Haley Kratovil (Mountain Lake, Minn./Mountain Lake) dished one to Kelli Kitzmann (Osseo, Minn./Osseo) to put the Vikings up 3-0. Jessica Wacholz (Mankato, Minn,/Mankato West) to Casey Jo Mindermann (Indianola, Iowa/Indianola) put together the final goal for Bethany Lutheran at the 83:06 mark.

The Vikings outshot the Yellowjackets 19-10. Freshman Jada Holden (Minneapolis, Minn./Washburn) played between the pipes saving seven shots on goal. The only ball that got past Holden came off a penalty kick in the 87th minute to put the final score 4-1.

Next, the women’s soccer team will play at Robert Morris in a non-conference game on September 10 at 2 p.m.
