St. Scholastica hands women's basketball first UMAC loss

Game Stats

Duluth, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran women’s basketball team dropped their first road conference game of the year to St. Scholastica tonight 66-58. The Vikings fell behind early, unable to get their way back into the game.

Bethany out-rebounded the Saints by 10, and had 14 more points in the paint, however the Saints got out to a fast start the Vikings couldn’t catch. Cold shooting also led to the Vikings loss shooting 33.3 percent from the field, and missing all seven attempted three point field goals.

Three Vikings had double-doubles on the night including: Nicole Jones (Mankato Minn./Mankato East), Jessica Englund (Andover, Minn./St. Francis), and Anna Cepek (Aurora, Neb./Aurora). Jones and Englund led the team with 18 points each, with Cepek adding 11. Englund grabbed 15 rebounds while Jones and Cepek had 13 and 10 respectively.

The Vikings will play another road conference game tomorrow night in Ashland, Wisconsin against Northland at 3 p.m.
