New Ulm, Minn.—The BLC Women took on MLC's Lady Knights in a conference game on Saturday, with the game ending in a 2-2 double overtime draw.
Lexie Mowery (Fairmont, Minn./ Fairmont) played yet another solid game in goal for the Vikings allowing only two goals on 21 shots and making six saves in the process.
Diana Garza (Faribault, Minn. / RCTC) scored an unorthodox first goal when an MLC player passed back to the goalkeeper and she chased the ball down, kicking it out of the goalkeeper's possession and into the goal.
Kindra Fairburn (Michael, Minn. / St. Albertville-Michael) scored the tying goal, after MLC put two in, off of a free kick that flew past the goalie and into the back of the net.
Notable was the hard play from all of the Vikings, great passing and good pressure on the ball at all times. Both offense and defense played as a unit. Both teams stepped up the game play to create two exciting overtimes, Bethany's second in as many games.
Bethany will look to build on a 6-5-1 overall record and a 2-3-1 conference record this week against Crown in St. Bonifacius.
