Decorah, Iowa – The women’s basketball team took on Simpson in the second day of the Luther Tournament. Simpson, a team that has won four straight championships in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, defeated the Vikings 52-94.
Jessica Englund (Andover, Minn./St. Francis) recorded a double-double with 17 points and 17 rebounds. She went 8-19 from the field, and had two blocks and two assists to lead the Vikings. Shelby Wiederhoeft (Truman, Minn./Truman) went a solid 4-6 from the field and 4-6 from the line to contribute 12 points, she also had five rebounds.
Simpson’s defense held the Vikings to a 32.8 field goal shooting percentage. BLC went 1-7 behind the arc, while Simpson shot 50.0 percent from three-point range.
Bethany Lutheran once again outrebounded their competitor pulling down 49 boards compared to Simpsons 38. Turnovers hurt the Vikings allowing Simpson to score 38 points off of 33 turnovers. Bethany Lutheran scored five points off of Simpson’s 16 turnovers.
The Vikings fell to 0-3 over the weekend, and will take on Bethel at home on Tuesday, November 22 at 7 p.m.
