Mankato, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran women’s basketball team got a much needed win tonight at home against the Waldorf Warriors 76-69.
It was the team’s first win of the season while redeeming a loss to the Warriors from just a week ago when BLC traveled to Waldorf falling 55-75.
The Vikings got off to a hot start recording a 40.6 field goal percentage and 50.0 percent from behind the three-point arc in the first half. They held their opponents to a 30.6 field goal percentage before heading into the locker room up 41-25.
In the second half Waldorf crept back within two points with two minutes left to go in the game, but the Vikings held on with solid free throw shooting making 85.7 percent of their shots taken from the charity stripe. The Vikings outrebounded their opponents 50-39.
Jessica Englund (Andover, Minn./St. Francis) and Anna Cepek (Aurora, Neb./Aurora) each recorded a double-double. Englund had 23 points and 12 rebounds, Cepek had 17 points and 10 rebounds. Amanda Edmison (Mayer, Minn./Watertown-Mayer) had 12 points and five rebounds.
The Vikings will play at home again on Saturday, December 17th versus Wartburg at 2 p.m.
