Women's Basketball drops important game to Northland

Mankato, Minn. - Bethany Lutheran College women’s basketball team lost a close game at home against Northland 79-70. Bethany trailed by three at halftime, but Northland took over in the second half and never trailed.


The Vikings shot 50 percent from the field however the LumberJills made their free-throws down the stretch to hang on to the win. Bethany never led in the second half, and allowed Northland to make six more three-pointers. The Vikings did however out score the LumberJills in the paint by 18 points.


Jessica Englund (Andover, Minn./ St. Francis) led the Vikings with a double-double contributing 20 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Nicole Jones (Mankato, Minn./ Mankato East) was the only other Viking in double figure points with 17 while dishing out eight assists as well.


Bethany Lutheran will continue play Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. when they play host to St. Scholastica. The Vikings are now 8-13 overall and 4-7 in conference play which places them one game out of the playoff picture if the season were to end today.
