Mankato Minn.- Bethany Lutheran College women’s basketball team lost a crucial game to Northwestern 71-57. With the loss the Vikings were knocked out of contention of UMAC playoffs.
The Vikings had a rough night shooting only making 33.3 percent from the field, and were unable to connect from three-point range. The Vikings dominated the Eagles in second chance points and in the rebounding categories. Bethany had 48 rebounds with 22 of those offensive rebounds which led to 20 second chance points.
Nicole Jones (Mankato, Minn./ Mankato East) led the Vikings with her first Triple-Double of the year having 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists. Anna Cepek (Aurora, Neb./ Aurora) had a double-double for the Vikings contributing 15 points and 11 rebounds. Jessica Englund (Andover, Minn./ St. Francis) and Emily Schrupp (Norwood, Minn./ Mayer Lutheran) were the other two Vikings in double figure points with 11 points each.
The Vikings will finish the season on Saturday against Crown at home. Bethany beat Crown earlier in the year 82-54. Bethany is now 8-15 overall and 4-9 in conference play.
