Cold shooting leads to loss at Martin Luther

New Ulm, Minn. - Bethany Lutheran men’s basketball couldn’t get back on the winning streak, falling to Martin Luther 86-66. The Vikings had beaten the Knights earlier this year at home 76-67.

 

The Vikings committed over 20 turnovers for the third straight game which has led to a 1-2 record over that streak. Bethany got out to a fast start, but cooled off at the same time Martin Luther heated up. The Vikings trailed by 11 at halftime and were unable to regain the lead throughout the second half. Bethany Lutheran shot 39.3 percent from the field, while Martin Luther shot 60.5 percent from the field. The Knights also managed a 53.8 shooting percentage from three-point range.

 

Gavin Kroehler (Le Sueur, Minn./ Le Sueur-Henderson) led the Vikings with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Derek Peterson (Oakdale, Minn./Tartan) and Alex Weldon (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/ LinMar) were the only other Vikings in double figures for points with 12 and 11 respectively.

 

The Vikings will continue conference play this weekend when they take on Presentation and Minnesota-Morris. The Vikings beat Presentation in OT at home, however fell to preseason favorite Minnesota-Morris by 12 at home earlier this year. The Vikings are now 8-11 overall and 5-3 in conference play this season.
