Mankato, Minn. – The Bethany Lutheran women’s tennis team took on Northwestern of Iowa this weekend falling with a final team score of 3-6.

The Vikings managed three wins during the match. Brook Osmundson (Mapleton, Minn./Maple River) defeated her opponent in two sets 6-3, and 6-1. Newcomer Sarah Wagner was also one of the Viking winners taking her opponent in two sets 6-1, and then 6-3.

Osmundson was undefeated on the day when her and teammate Alyssa Rau (Sarona, Wis./Rice Lake) won their doubles match with a score of 8-5.

Bethany Lutheran has been showing improvement in each of the matches played so far this season. Set scores have increasingly become closer as the Vikings prepare for conference season.

The next match for the Vikings will be against St. Scholastic in the UMAC opener on March 26. The squad will take on Minnesota-Morris the same day as all three teams will travel to the Swanson Tennis Center in St. Peter, Minnesota. Match times are set for 12 p.m., and 2 p.m.
