Aberdeen, S.D. - Bethany Lutheran men’s basketball got back on the winning track again tonight on the road against Presentation by a score of 85-68. With the win the Vikings completed the season sweep of the Saints in conference play.
The Vikings were ahead by one at halftime, but took over the game half way through the second half to pull away for the win. The Vikings had a balanced scoring attack with four different players scoring in double figures. Bethany had a good shooting night as well, shooting 52.6 percent from the field and a hot 50 percent from three-point range.
The Vikings were led by sophomore Derek Peterson (Oakdale, Minn./Tartan) who had 19 points. The other three Vikings in double figures were, Gavin Kroehler (Le Sueur, Minn./Le Sueur-Henderson), Garrett Benson (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Mayo), and Sami Onsomu (Mankato, Minn./Mankato East) with 17, 16, and 12 points respectively. Peterson also led the team dishing out five assists and blocking two shots.
Bethany will continue play tomorrow night against preseason favorite Minnesota-Morris. The Vikings fell to the Cougars earlier this year in Mankato by a score of 92-80.
