Morris, Minn. - The Bethany Lutheran men’s basketball team couldn’t upset preseason favorite Minnesota-Morris, losing by a score of 78-59.

The Vikings didn’t shoot the ball very well which led to the loss. Bethany shot 38.4 percent from the field including 30.3 percent from three-point range. The Vikings also committed too many turnovers which led to 21 points for Minnesota-Morris.

Derek Peterson (Oakdale, Minn./ Tartan) led the way for the Vikings with 21 points. Sami Onsomu (Mankato, Minn./ Mankato East) was the only other Viking in double figure points with 11. Trevor Bartelt (Waldorf, Minn./ Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton) led Bethany with seven rebounds while also scoring seven points of his own.

Bethany will continue conference play this weekend when they play host to Northland and St. Scholastica. The Vikings are now 9-12 overall and 6-4 in conference play which places them tied for third with St. Scholastica in the UMAC.
