Morris, Minn. - Bethany Lutheran women’s basketball team couldn’t pull off the big win they were looking for over Minnesota-Morris. The Vikings led early in the game, but couldn’t pull it off losing by a score of 67-59.
The Vikings led by as many as eight points in the first half, but couldn’t hang on to the lead as the Cougars took a six point lead into halftime. Bethany shot well, but Minnesota-Morris made eight of their 20 three-pointers versus the Vikings three for 11. The Vikings out-rebounded their opponent again grabbing 30 rebounds to the Cougars 26.
Nicole Jones (Mankato, Minn./ Mankato East) led the way for the Vikings with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Jessica Englund (Andover Minn./ St. Francis) also had a good night for the Vikings with 18 points.
The Vikings will continue play at home next weekend when they host Northland and St. Scholastica. The Vikings record is now 8-12 overall and 4-6 in conference play which puts them one game out of the UMAC playoffs with 4 games to play.
