Women's tennis falls to UW-Stout 4-5

Northfield, Minn. – The Viking women almost got a win over UW-Stout today at the Swanson Tennis Center. Bethany Lutheran fell 4-5.

 

UW-Stout forfeited two to help out the Vikings a little, but Madara Matveja (Riga, Latvia/Riga Secondary) had a shining performance defeating her opponent in two sets 6-0, 6-3.

 

The Vikings number three and four played some very hard fought and close sets. Brook Osmundson (Delavan, Minn./Maple River) went into three sets 6-2, 7(3)-6, and 10-5. Sarah Wagner also went into three sets eventually falling 6-4, 3-6, 10-6.

 

Bethany Lutheran’s number one doubles team of Rebecca Kopacek (Maple Grove, Minn./Osseo) and Matveja defeated UW-Stout in a back can forth battle winning 9-8(6).

 

The women will play at home at 3 p.m. on Monday against conference rival Martin Luther.
