Mankato, Minn. - The women’s tennis team split the last two games of the regular season defeating North Central and then falling to Martin Luther.
North Central (W 8-1)
Only the Rams number one was able to defeat the Vikings. Madara Matveja (Riga, Latvia, Riga Secondary) handily defeated her opponenet 6-4, 6-0. Brooke Osmundson (Delavan, Minn. / Maple River) defeated hers in a close tie breaker eventually winning 7-5, 1-6, 10-8. Sarah Wagner (Elbow Lake, Minn. / West Central Area Secondary) also won in a nail biter 6-4, 7-6 (7-1).
The team of Osmundson and Wagner also pulled through in the doubles competition taking the Rams 8-7 (10-4).
Marin Luther (L 3-6)
Matveja, and Osmundson were the only two Vikings to win their singles competition against the Knights. Matveja won 6-4, 6-2 and Osmundson won 6-2, 7-5.
Osmundson and Wagner were the other win for the Vikings keeping their doubles competition win streak alive defeating their opponent 8-5.
