Box Score
Mankato, Minn. – The women’s soccer team gave the first home crowd of the year a great game defeating the Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors 4-1.
The Vikings got on the bored right away with 8:50 on the clock when Anna Potz (White Bear Lake, Minn./Totino Grace) found the back of the net off a corner kick by Paige Taylor (Coon Rapids, Minn./DCTC) who was credited with the assist. Before the halftime break, BLC was able to get another tally on the board. This time junior transfer Diana Garza (Faribault, Minn./RCTC) passed it up to Joelle Pipal (Mankato, Minn./Mankato West) for the goal.
The Warriors were the first to get on the board in the second half, but two more goals by BLC solidified the victory for the Vikings. Taylor scored one of her own, and Pipal was able to get her second goal of the game with less than a minute left to go. Both goals were assisted by Potz.
Though plagued with 10 offside calls, the Vikings outshot the Warriors 29-14 and had a 4-0 corner kick advantage. Keeper Alexa Mowery (Fairmont, Minn./Fairmont) made five saves on the day.
The Vikings will travel to Minneapolis tomorrow to take on the North Central Rams. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
