Bethany shuts out North Central

Game Stats

Coon Rapids, Minn. – The Lady Vikings dominated both sides of the ball against North Central Tuesday night. A balanced attack and good passing was key in their win.

Alexa Mowery  (Fairmont, Minn./Fairmont) did her job in goal, saving everything booted her way and held North Central scoreless for the Bethany women’s first shutout of the year.

Paige Taylor (Coon Rapids, Minn./DCTC) led off the scoring in her hometown with a beautiful strike from the left side assisted by Joelle Pipal (Mankato Minn./Mankato West).

Pipal scored a goal off of an equally beautiful assist by the Vikes Keeper Mowery. Freshman Ariel Christensen (Albert Lea, Minn./Albert Lea) showed what she brings to the team with a goal on a breakaway before time expired in the second half.  An assist was credited to Hanna Spaulding (Savage, Minn./St. Croix Lutheran) for feeding the ball to make the goal possible.

During the game BLC dominated ball control, working the short passing game and opening up streaking runs through the middle, scoring on several combinations.

Both offense and defense will be able to go into this weekend with confidence against UMAC opponents Northland (Ashland, Wis.) on Friday and St. Scholastica (Duluth, Minn.) on Saturday.

The women’s soccer team improved their record to 3-3 heading into conference play this weekend.
