BLC women dominate second half

Box Score

Ashland, Wis. – In the first conference game of the year the Viking women turned up the tempo in the second half against the Northland LumberJills scoring four goals to win in a 4-0 shutout.

Lexie Mowery (Fairmont, Minn. / Fairmont) recorded her second shutout in as many games. Her defense helped her out by keeping a real threat from shooting on goal.

Melissa Luebke (Elko, Minn. / New Prague) a defender, blasted a ball from near midfield that the keeper for the Lumberjills mishandled and dropped into the goal.

Joelle Pipal (Mankato Minn. / Mankato West) scored the second goal on a quick thinking free kick she booted in while the defenders were scrambling for position.

Ariel Christensen (Albert Lea, Minn. / Albert Lea) booted in the third goal of the half off of a cross from Anna Potz (White Bear Lake, Minn. / Totino-Grace)

With the fourth and final goal of the game, Kindra Fairburn (Michael, Minn. / St. Michael-Albertville) headed in the ball off of a corner taken by Paige Taylor (Coon Rapids, Minn. / DCTC).

It was obvious that BLC dominated ball control, maintaining good possession while waiting for an opportunity for a well placed through ball.

The Vikes are taking their momentum into tomorrow's conference game against St. Scholastica in Duluth.

Our BLC Lady Vikes improved their record to 4-2 and are a perfect 1-0 in conference play.
