Women's soccer falls to Saints, defeats LumberJills

Ashland, Wis. – The Women’s soccer team was unable to get past the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) favorite St. Scholastica this weekend. After falling to the Saints 1-8 Bethany regrouped to finish the weekend defeating Northland 4-0.
 
The lone goal for the Vikings in the game versus St. Scholastica came from Kathryn Scislow (Lakeville, Minn. / St. Croix Lutheran). Her goal was unassisted at the 12 minute mark. Alexa Mowery (Fairmont, Minn. / Fairmont) was in between the pipes recording 12 saves for the Vikings. St. Scholastica outshot Bethany 33 to three.
 
While taking on Northland the Vikings scored twice in the first half and twice in the second half. Two seniors accounted for all four of the goals. Maggie LaPlante (White Bear Lake, Minn. / White Bear Lake) scored 21 minutes in assisted by Scislow and Morica Reinsch (Lakeland, Fla. / Lakeland Christian). She also scored at the 88:18 mark assisted by Hanna Spaulding (Savage, Minn. / St. Croix Lutheran) and Paige Taylor (Coon Rapids, Minn. / Totino Grace).
 
Taylor had two goals of her own. Her first goal was 36 minutes in assisted by Spaulding. Her second goal was at the 50:52 mark unassisted. Keeper Mowery had nine saves. Bethany outshot Northland 21 to 14.
 
Next, the Vikings will travel to UMAC competitor Martin Luther for a 2:30 p.m. game on October 6th. Bethany is now 6-5-1 overall and 4-2-0 in the conference.
