New Ulm, Minn. – The women’s basketball team’s season came to an end after traveling to Martin Luther for the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Semifinals. The No. 1 seeded Knights defeated the No. 4 seeded Vikings 69-60.
It was Bethany Lutheran’s first UMAC post-season appearance since the 2006-07 campaign. The Vikings shot 34.8 percent from the field and were 5-20 from thee-point range. Martin Luther shot 43.3 percent from the field and went 4-14 from behind the arc. The Vikings struggled from the free-throw line shooting a cold 47.7 percent. MLC shot 76.5 from the charity stripe. BLC outrebounded the Knights 47-39.
Anna Cepek (Aurora, Neb./Aurora) led the team with a double-double scoring 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Jade Pelzl (Rushford, Minn./UW-Eau Claire) had 16 points and two steals. Jessica Englund (Andover, Minn./St. Francis) also had a double-double with 15 points and 15 rebounds. She also contributed three assists, three blocks and two steals. Kelsie Ammann (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North) led the team in assists with six.
The Vikings end their season 8-18 overall and 7-8 in the UMAC conference.
