Box Score Mankato, Minn. – The women’s basketball team lost in overtime for the second game in a row, this time to Minnesota-Morris 84-76.
The Vikings were down by two at the half but made up the points to tie it 69-69 at the end of regulation. Once in overtime Minnesota-Morris controlled the floor with Bethany’s number one and three scorers fouled out.
The Vikings shot 39.7 percent from the field and 34.8 percent from three-point range. The Cougars shot 43.8 percent from the field and 35.3 percent from behind the arc. Bethany outrebounded Minnesota-Morris 48-38.
Four Vikings scored in double figures. Jessica Englund (Andover, Minn./St. Francis) led the way with 15 points, six rebounds and four assists. Shelby Wiederhoeft (Truman, Minn./Truman) came off the bench recording 13 points and led the team in rebounds with nine. Kelsie Ammann (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North) had 11 points and six assists. Anna Cepek (Aurora, Neb./Aurora) had 10 points and six rebounds.
The Vikings will travel to Northland on Friday for a game at 5:30 p.m. and then continue the road trip taking on St. Scholastica Saturday at 3 p.m. Bethany is now 6-13 overall and 5-5 in the conference.
