Offensive woes hand Vikings two losses

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Mankato, Minn. – The Vikings failed to score today falling to St. John’s in a doubleheader 0-7 and then 0-6.
 
Game One (L 0-7) Box Score
Garrett Benson (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) started on the mound for the Vikings pitching four innings allowing 10 hits and six runs. The Johnnies scored three in the second and three in the fourth before Taylor Beattie (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) came in for relief. In his first appearance as a Viking Beattie allowed two hits in two innings and one run. He struck out two batters.
 
The Vikes only managed three hits. Lucas Herd (Gaylord, Minn./Sibley East) had a triple in the first. Casey Woodside (Albert Lea, Minn./Minnesota-Crookston) and Dylan Gass (Bird Island, Minn./BOLD) each had a hit.
 
Bethany left four on base and had one error. St. John’s had seven runs on 12 hits and no errors. The Johnnies left 11 on base.
 
Game Two (L 0-6) Box Score
Jordan Sinell (Le Sueur, Minn./Minnesota State, Mankato) got the start in the second game of the doubleheader. He gave up eight hits in five innings. St. John’s scored six runs off of Sinell, five of which were earned. He struck out six batters and walked four before freshman Tyler Woodside (Albert Lea, Minn./Glenville-Emmons) made his first appearance in a BLC uniform. Woodside gave up one hit in two innings.
 
Bethany recorded four hits. Adam Geiger (Mankato, Minn./Immanuel Lutheran) went two for two, one of which was a double. Herd had another hit, while Clint Aretz (NYA, Minn./Ridgewater CC) got his first hit in a Vikings uniform.
 
St. John’s had nine hits and left 10 on base. The Vikings left seven on base. Bethany had three errors in the field while St. John's had two.
 
Bethany will take on Rockford in a single nine inning game March 6 at 7 p.m. (CST).
