Ashland, Wis. – The baseball team traveled to Northland for a three game series over the weekend. Bethany swept the LumberJacks 13-0, 15-0 and 12-7.
Game 1 (W 13-0)
Aaron Siefken (Lone Rock, Iowa/Iowa Central CC) was credited with the win pitching six innings. He didn’t allow any runs on seven hits. He also didn’t walk any batters while recording nine strikeouts. Eric Kropp (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley) came in for the final inning. He struck out one batter and didn’t allow any hits.
Travis Fisher (Cedar, Minn./St. Francis) led the team in RBI logging four. He went three for five including a double. Adam Geiger (Mankato, Minn./Immanuel Lutheran) went three for four with two RBI. All three of his hits were doubles. Jeremy Bade (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley) logged a home run and had two RBI.
Bethany left 10 on base and was clean n the field. They totaled 18 hits. Northland left seven on base and had three errors.
Game 2 (W 15-0)
Jordan Sinell (Le Sueur, Minn./Minnesota State, Mankato) pitched five and a third innings in the second game to earn the win. He allowed just two hits. He walked for batters and struck out five. Dylan McCormick (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson) came in for relief for an inning and two thirds. He stuck out one batter and didn’t allow any hits.
Siefken led the team in RBI with three going two for two with a home run. Bade’s bat stayed hot hitting another home run for two RBI. Lucas Herd (Gaylord, Minn./Sibley East) and Casey Woodside (Albert Lea, Minn./Minnesota-Crookston) also hit home runs. Herd went two for three with two RBI, he also hit a double.
Bethany had a total of 16 hits and one error in the field. The Vikings left 11 on base. Northland left four on base and had three errors in the field.
Game 3 (W 12-7)
Garrett Benson (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Mayo) got the win pitching six innings. He recorded nine strikeouts without walking a batter. Benson allowed two runs on two hits, none of the runs were earned. Tyler Woodside (Albert Lea, Minn./Glenville-Emmons), Jake Gleason (Loretto, Minn./Mesabi CC) and Kropp combined to finish the game.
Siefken and Fisher each had a double. They each had two RBI as did Bade and Tommy Kramer (Blooming Priarie, Minn./Rochester CC).
Bethany left nine on base and had three errors in the field. Northland left seven on base and had five errors.
Next, The Vikings will host Northwestern on April 20th for a single nine inning game starting at 3 p.m. Bethany and the Eagles will face off the following day for a doubleheader starting a Noon.
