Mankato, Minn. – Garrett Benson (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Mayo) was named Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Pitcher of the Week.
 
Benson didn't allow an earned run in 11 innings of work over two starts last week. He held his opponents to a .135 batting average.
 
The right hander posted nine strikeouts and no walks in Bethany’s 12-7 win over Northland. In six innings he allowed just two hits.
 
He also earned a win against Martin Luther in BLC’s 13-3 victory over the Knights. He pitched five innings allowing just three hits. Benson recorded three strikeouts and one walk.
 
The junior is now 4-2 on the season giving him the second most wins in the UMAC. His season totals include a 3.32 ERA in eight appearances. In 40.2 innings pitched Benson has logged 30 strikeouts while walking only five batters. 
 
Benson and the Vikings will take on Northwestern at home this weekend. Friday, April 20th a single nine inning game will be played at 3 p.m. Bethany and the Eagles will play again the following day in a doubleheader scheduled for Noon.
