Mankato, Minn. – Because of weather delays the Vikings and the Northwestern Eagles played a triple header. Bethany took the first two games 8-3 and 15-3, the Vikings fell in the third game 4-12.
Game 1 (W 8-3)
Aaron Siefken (Lone Rock, Iowa/Iowa Central CC) pitched a full game recording his fifth win of the season. In seven innings he gave up eight hits and three runs. He struck out six batters during his time on the mound and allowed no walks.
Offensively Tommy Kramer (Blooming Prairie, Minn./Rochester CC) led the team in RBI with three clearing the bases on a double in the second innings. Lucas Herd (Gaylord, Minn./Sibley East) went thee for four with one run and one RBI. One of his hits was a double.
The Vikings left five on base and had no errors in the field. Northwestern left four on base and committed two errors.
Game 2 (W 15-3)
Garrett Benson (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Mayo) started on the mound pitching six and a third innings before Jake Gleason (Loretto, Minn./Mesabi CC) came in to finish the game. Benson gave up three runs on four hits. He struck out four batters and walked one. Gleason gave up one hit but finished his time without any additional runs scored.
Second baseman Sam Stier (Austin, Minn./Pacelli) had a stand out game going four for four with three runs and four RBI. Stier logged a home run and a double. Mitch Kleist (Eagle Lake, Minn./Mankato East) went two for four with two RBI on a double. Also hitting a double was Herd and Jeremy Bade (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Simley). Travis Fisher (Cedar, Minn./St. Francis) contributed a solo home run.
Bethany and Northwestern left six on base. The Vikings were clean in the field while the Eagles had two errors.
Game 3 (L 4-12)
Jordan Sinell (Le Sueur, Minn./Minnesota State, Mankato) started on the mound for the Vikings. He pitched four innings giving up five hits and five runs, three of which were earned. Sinell struck out four batters and walked two. Alex Klug (Caledonia, Minn./Rochester CC) replaced him to pitch one and one third innings. He gave up four earned runs and four hits during his time. Klug struck out one batter and walked two. Phil Wessberg (Shoreview, Minn./Mounds View) finished the sixth inning getting two outs. Dylan McCormick (Hutchinson, Minn./Hutchinson) threw the seventh inning giving up two runs on three hits.
Stier continued to stay hot going three for three with one RBI. Herd and Dylan Gass (Bird Island, Minn./BOLD) had the other two RBI for the Vikings.
BLC had a total of nine hits and left seven on base. Northwestern left six on base. The Vikings had four errors in the field, the Eagles had three.
Next, the Vikings will travel to Presentation this weekend to play a three game series.
