Mankato, Minn. – The tennis teams fell to Northwestern for the second time this season. The Vikings hosted the Eagles but were unable to get a win as the Bethany men and women each fell 0-9.
 
The best performances from the Viking men came from number three Eric DeBruzzi (Carlisle, Mass. / Concord Carlisle) and number six Mark Gullixson (Madison, Wis. / Lakeside Lutheran). Both DeBruzzi and Gullixson fell 1-6, 2-6. Bethany’s number two Ryan Koch (Savage, Minn. / Bloomington Jefferson) and number four Aaron Wiechmann (Savage, Minn. / St. Croix Lutheran) each went down 1-6, 1-6.
 
In the doubles competition the team of David Blumer (Lakewood, Colo. / Green Mountain) and Koch were defeated 1-8. Peter Londgren (Charlevoix, Mich. / Charlevoix) and Gullixson also fell 1-8.
 
For the women Brooke Osmundson (Delavan, Minn. / Maple River) came closest to her competitor in the number three singles match falling 3-6, 2-6. Bethany’s number five Rebecca Neumann (Hartland, Wis. / Luther Prep) fell 2-6, 2-6. Ellen Tommerdahl (Champlin, Minn. / West Lutheran) in the number four spot fell 1-6, 2-6.
 
In the doubles competition the team of Tommerdahl and Neumann had the best match-up taking their opponents on a ride falling 6-8. The other two Bethany doubles teams fell 1-8.
 
Next, the Vikings will host Martin Luther on April 30th at 3 p.m.
