Baseball logs 12-5 win over Martin Luther

New Ulm, Minn. – The Vikings defeated the Martin Luther Knights 12-5. After falling behind by three, the Vikings tied the game in the fifth inning and continued their offensive streak to pull ahead.
 
Four Bethany pitchers combined for nine innings. Jake Gleason (Loretto, Minn./Mesabi CC) started on the mound pitching two and two third innings. He allowed six hits and three runs, two of which were earned. He struck out three batters and walked one. Travis Fisher (Cedar, Minn./St. Francis) also pitched two and two third innings. He struck out three batters and walked three while allowing two runs on one hit. Tyler Woodside (Albert Lea, Minn./Glenville-Emmons) earned the win going two and two third innings. He struck out two batters and didn’t allow any hits or runs. Taylor Beattie (Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) finished off the game throwing the last inning, he allowed just one hit.
 
Casey Woodside (Albert Lea, Minn./Minnesota-Crookston) led the Vikings at the plate going three for four logging two runs and three RBI. Nick Mahle (Anoka, Minn./Iowa Central CC) went two for three with two RBI while recording his first triple of the season. Centerfielder Joe Tuholsky (Little Falls, Minn./Little Falls) also had two RBI going two for five, he crossed home plate twice.
 
The Vikings had four stolen bases and totaled 11 hits. Bethany left eight on base and committed three errors in the field. MLC had eight hits and five errors in the field while leaving seven on base.
 
The Vikings improve to 8-13 overall and 1-3 in the conference. Next, Bethany will play a three game series against Crown in Watertown, Minn. A nine inning game will be played on April 6th at 1 p.m., and then the teams will face off for a doubleheader on April 7th starting at Noon.
