Women's soccer upsets MN-Morris 2-1

Mankato, Minn. – The BLC women’s soccer team upset the Minnesota-Morris Cougars 2-1. MN-Morris was undefeated in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) until the Vikings put a stop to their streak.
 
The Vikings scored two goals in the first half within two minutes of each other. Freshman Emily Biggs (Hubert, N.C. / Swansboro) scored at the 28:41 mark assisted by Maggie LaPlante. Paige Taylor (Coon Rapids, Minn. / Totino Grace) then found the back of the net at the 30:59 mark for an insurance goal assisted by Hanna Spaulding (Savage, Minn. / St. Croix Lutheran).
 
MN-Morris was able to score with eight minutes left to play but it was the only goal the Viking defense allowed. Alexa Mowery (Fairmont, Minn. / Fairmont) was in between the pipes for all 90 minutes recording six saves.
 
MN-Morris outshot the Vikings 11 to eight. The Cougars took 11 corner kicks while the Vikings didn’t have any. MN-Morris was offsides four different times during an offensive attack. Bethany was never called offsides.
 
The Vikings are now 4-4-1 overall and 3-1 in the UMAC. Next, Bethany will play a non-conference game versus UW-Superior on September 25th at 2:30 p.m.
