Box Score
St. Paul, Minn. - The Vikings and the Northwestern Eagles were tied at 25 a piece going into the second half, but it went south from there for Bethany as they never held a second half and failed to get a sweep in the twin cities falling 73-59 to Northwestern Saturday afternoon.
Neither could score in the first minute and a half of the second session until Jessica Fife's lay-in gave Northwestern a lead it would never relinquish. Mollie Sir hit a big 3-pointer to put Northwestern up 34-27 with 16:19 remaining and they continued to build on that lead throughout the rest of the game.
Shooting from beyond the arc was the story in the second half. While the Eagles made 4-of-6 from downtown, the Vikings made only one of ten three-point attempts. Bethany was 2-for-20 from distance for the whole game.
Shelby Wiederhoeft had another double-double performance scoring 18 points and grabbing 16 rebounds leading the team in both categories. Jade Pelzl scored 16 and Kasslin Swenson joined Wiederhoeft by collecting 16 boards. Briana Brandts had her second straight double-double by scoring 11 points and corraling 15 rebounds.
Bethany falls to 1-2 in the UMAC and 3-11 overall. They begin a 4-game homestand when they entertain Northland for a 5:30 p.m. start on Friday.
