Box Score Mankato, Minn. - The Vikings were involved in a close game early, but first half foul trouble led to a 10-0 run by the St. Scholastica Saints, which gave them the lead for good. The Vikings fell by a final score of 76-67.
The Vikings shot just 33.8 percent (23-68) from the field, while making 2-13 from beyond the arc for a 15.4 percent rate. The Saints recorded better numbers with 47.5 percent from the field and 27.8 percent from three-point land. The Vikings dominated the offensive glass with 23 offensive rebounds to St. Scholastica’s 12, and converted 27 second-chance points. The Vikings also took advantage of 14 Saints turnovers, scoring 20 points off of those turnovers.
Shelby Wiederhoeft recorded another double-double, scoring 23 and hauling in 15 rebounds. Briana Brandts had a double double as well, with 12 each of points and rebounds, and she also recorded three steals in the contest. Jade Pelzl scored 12 and dished out three assists, and Kasslin Swenson also scored in double digits with 11 points to go with four rebounds.
The Vikings drop to 2-3 in conference play and now have an overall mark of 4-12. They will get back at it at home on Friday when they will take on Crown College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
