Box Score NEW ULM, Minn. - Thursday in Mankato, Bethany Lutheran and Martin Luther played to a scoreless first half in women's soccer. The two teams squared off again Saturday, this in New Ulm, with a vastly different scoring outcome.
Seven goals were scored in the first half, but unfortunately for Vikings fan, five were by Martin Luther and they would go on to defeat the Vikings for the second time in three days, 6-3.
After MLC scored first one second into the eighth minute, BLC's
Cheyenne Huereque countered 29 seconds later for her second goal of the season off a feed from
Tori Wilking to even the score. The Vikings would score again in the 33rd minute, but that was sandwiched in between four Knights' goals as they took a 5-2 lead over BLC into the break.
Julia Putz added her first goal of the season in the 82nd minute.
Bethany (3-7-3, 2-4-2 in UMAC) next plays Friday at Minn.-Morris.
