MANKATO, Minn. - The St. Scholastica Saints came into Friday's game against Bethany Lutheran on a six game win streak, and looked to continue that streak against the Vikings. Bethany did all it could to upset the Saints keeping the game a close battle the entire first half before being defeated 4-0.
Freshman forward
Asia Owens tried to give the Vikings the lead with a shot in the 30th minute, but it was saved by St. Scholastica's Angie Toepper. The Saints were held scoreless for almost the entire first half with the Vikings giving them everything they could handle. It wasn't until Casey Mitchell's 40th minute goal off a corner kick that the Saints were finally able to break through.
The scoring opened up for the Saints in the second half as they were able to add goals in the 53rd, 70th, and 75th minutes to gain the 4-0 win.
The Saints attempted 28 shots and 16 corner kicks in the game, but senior goalkeeper
Alexa Mowery was able to show off her defense and make ten saves for the Vikings. Freshman
Tori Wilking and seniors
Kendra Fairburn and
Hannah Spaulding each had shots on goal for the lady Vikings.
In their next matchup, the Vikings next take on the Lumberjills of Northland College Saturday at 2:15 pm at the BLC Soccer Field.
