DULUTH, Minn. - A day after getting eliminated from UMAC postseason contention, the Bethany women's soccer team closed out its season with a road match against conference regular season champion St. Scholastica. The Saints capped off an undefeated UMAC campaign by defeating the Vikings 4-0.
The Saints wasted no time building their lead with goals in the fifth and 11th minutes to go up 2-0. Shortly thereafter, in the 22nd minute, Casey Mitchell added to the lead with a goal of her own to put the Saints up 3-0 at going into the half.
Claire Lubansky scored the fourth and final goal for the Saints in the 57th minute. In the 60th minute, senior midfielder
Kindra Fairburn was finally able to record the first and only shot of the game for the Vikings before being saved by Saints' goalkeeper Angie Toepper. Bethany senior goalkeeper
Alexa Mowery had eight saves in the game for the Vikings.
The Vikings finish the season with a 5-11-3 record overall and a 4-8-2 record in conference, good for a sixth place UMAC finish.
