Comeback attempt comes up short

Box Score Mankato, Minn. - Despite double-doubles from Kasslin Swenson and Shelby Wiederhoeft, Bethany falls late to the Northwestern Eagles 70-68.

The Vikings came back from a nine-point deficit in the second half and came within a point, but weren't able to take the lead. They had their chances down two in the closing seconds, but Jade Pelzl missed a jumper to tie it; Wiederhoeft got the rebound and passed to Kelsie Ammann who shot a three that rimmed out and Swenson missed a put back attempt before Northwestern corralled the rebound and the win.

Three-point baskets made the difference in the two-point loss, with Northwestern making 13-24 from beyond the arc to Bethany’s 7-24. The Vikings made 37.1 percent of their shots from the field overall.
 
Wiederhoeft scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Kasslin Swenson recorded 12 points and notched 13 boards. Amanda Edmison tallied 13 points in the defeat.

With the loss, the Vikings fall to 6-16 and 4-7 in the UMAC. The Vikings host North Central in the home finale Saturday at 3 p.m.
